Phenaki is an AI tool that utilizes a novel causal model to create lifelike videos from written prompts. This advanced tool effectively learns video representations and compresses them into discrete tokens, allowing for the generation of videos with varying lengths. Unlike per-frame baselines, Phenaki outperforms in generating videos based on open-domain and time-variable prompts. Additionally, it demonstrates its capability to work with a limited number of video-text examples and extensive image-text corpora. Notably, this paper marks the first exploration of this particular type of video generation.
