Roles & Responsibilities

Sia Partners is looking to open a Data Science business unit in Western Canada! We are looking for talented Senior Data Scientists to support and help us grow our activities within the Data Science Business Unit. 

You will be working alongside our Data Science consultants in our other offices and our clients on Data Science topics, including data acquisition and exploration, creating relevant data models and presenting results to stakeholders.  

You will also contribute to internal Data Science projects hosted on Heka, our internal accelerator for Data Science projects. As part of the global Data Science team, you will contribute to the development of various solutions designed to address our clients’ needs.  

In synergy with our various departments and sectors, you will be responsible for work and assignments requiring the implementation of complex models to support our customers in their issues: 

Big Data: algorithmic knowledge for processing large volumes of unstructured data. 
 Machine learning and statistics: development of explanatory and predictive decision-making models (supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms, econometrics, forecasting, quantitative diagnostics); 
Operational research: assistance in the design and implementation of constrained optimization solutions and simulation models; 

Key Responsibilities  

  1. Communicate at scale, through multiple mediums: presentations, dashboards, datasets, bots and more.  
  2. Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges.  
  3. Collaborate with engineering and product development teams.  
  4. Broad range of partners equates to a broad range of projects and deliverables, including ML Models, algorithms, datasets, measurements, services, tools and process.  
  5. Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure data models and algorithms meet regulatory requirements and best practices related to financial crimes.   
  6. Partner with our client’s leadership teams, engineers, program managers and data analysts to understand data needs.  
  7. Identify, acquire, process, and explore relevant data sources.  
  8. Apply ML methodologies to optimize processes and to develop innovative solutions for complex business problems. 
  9. Implement ML models to automate tasks and improve efficiency across various business functions. 
  10. Evaluate the performance of ML models and iterate on them to achieve optimal results. 
  11. Analyze large amounts of structured and unstructured information to discover trends and patterns.  
  12. Use your data analytics and science expertise to derive valuable insights from datasets, build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms.  
  13. Integrate and apply knowledge of sanction screening and transaction monitoring platforms in data analytics to improve the detection and prevention of financial crimes.  
  14. Ensure alignment of data science activities with the compliance standards, particularly focusing on financial crimes, sanctions, and other regulatory requirements.
