Research Scientist

We are looking for an exceptional Research Scientist to join our Emerging Technologies team.  This team works on cutting-edge optical sensor research involving innovative design, selection, and implementation of emerging optoelectronic components, as well as system integration, testing, and troubleshooting.  

As part of the team, you will work alongside other experienced scientists and engineers to develop novel, cutting-edge solutions to several challenging problems.  Understanding and experience with UV/VIS/IR active and passive components, optical, opto-mechanical, and opto-electronic system design, image processing, EO/IR sensors, night vision devices are desired. This is a hands-on research and development position with some project management responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
Technical Design & Development:

Lead the creation of new concepts and architecture design, development, and implementation activities related to optical sensor and optical imaging systems development including performance simulation, field prototyping, and testing.
Apply experience in the use of modern programming, modeling, and simulation tools to help develop new technologies.Intellisense primarily uses COMSOL, ZEMAX, Matlab/Simulink, C/C++, Python, LabVIEW, OpenGL and OpenCV libraries
Develop system architecture, procure, and validate components and integrate and test system prototypes.
Apply principle of design of experiments to construct optical system testing setup.

Peer Review & Project Support:

Work alongside engineering and research teams in researching, selecting, evaluating, and/or developing component/system and packaging for specific applications.
Interact with government and non-government representatives to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and addressed.
Lead/provide technical write-ups related to system, hardware, and software development for bids and proposals.
Fulfill other duties as assigned by management.
